In 2020, Edwin Congo was arrested along with 10 other people as part of investigation into the illicit drug trade.

The 44-year-old was detained in Madrid where he was subjected to questioning by officers from a specialised anti-drug unit before being released.

Edwin Congo joined Real Madrid in 1999 and he was the most expensive Colombian player ever. Meanwhile, he never featured for the club’s first team.

The Colombian spent three years in Madrid and was loaned out to Real Valladolid, where he played 14 times. He was even included in the squad which won the 2002 Champions League – doing a John Terry by celebrating on the pitch with a Colombia flag after Los Blancos beat Bayer Leverkusen.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in the history of Real Madrid. He won his most numbers of trophies with Real Madrid. He was accused of taking drugs during his time at Real Madrid.

Former Los Blancos man reportedly disrupted a surprise drugs test during his time at Real Madrid with his remonstrations forcing two doping officers from UEFA to step aside for the club’s doctors in what has been described as an “exceptional” case.

In February 2017, four months before UEFA made an unannounced visit to the Bernabeu with the intention of testing 10 players, including Ronaldo.

Ronaldo made his transfer from Manchester United in 2009 and the Portugal captain won every single trophy during his time at the Spanish capital.

He made 438 appearances for Real Madrid and scored 438 goals. He has 312 goals in La Liga and 105 in the Champions League. He won four Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, two LaLiga titles, and a pair of Copas del Rey.

Cristiano Ronaldo also saw his brother taking drugs. Hugo Aveiro, battled against drink and substance abuse and has Ronaldo to thank for paying for treatment to help overcome addiction. The Portuguese superstar had seen his father battle with alcohol consumption, ultimately resulting in his death when Ronaldo was just 20 years old.
