Real Madrid could turn to Lyon centre back Jason Denayer this summer if they fail to sign Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger

Los Blancos have been widely connected with a transfer for German international Rudiger, who is approaching the end of his current contract at Stamford Bridge.

The German has fewer than six months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, the German defender is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with another club, and he has been connected with Juventus, PSG, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid, among others.

The 28-year-old was rumoured to be interested in a move to the Bernabeu and had even spoken with several members of the Real Madrid team about life at the club. However, as things now stand, that dream is unlikely to come true.

Chelsea are likely to make a fresh attempt to extend the 28-year-contract old’s owing to his role in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

According to reports, Real Madrid are interested in signing Denayer on a free transfer if Rudiger continues with the defending European and World champions in 2022.

Denayer’s contract expires this summer, despite Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas’s assurances that the club wants to keep him, with no major movement on an extension.

Serie A ‘s Juventus are also interested in the former Manchester City defender and might compete with Real Madrid in the coming months in a salary war.
