Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a staggering £150 million (€175 million) bid to bring midfielder Enzo Fernandez to the Bernabeu, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes and FourFourTwo.
Xabi Alonso targets Enzo Fernandez in £150m summer swoop
Manager Xabi Alonso has identified Fernandez as a transformative figure for his engine room, and Los Blancos are said to be assembling a monumental offer to land him from Chelsea.
Fernandez, who joined Chelsea in January 2023 for £106.8 million from Benfica, has since emerged as a key figure, establishing himself in a midfield trio alongside Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer, and even captaining the side on multiple occasions.
While Chelsea value him at over €121 million, Real Madrid’s willingness to let go of players like Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, or Fran Garcia hints at the scale of financial maneuvering required to fund the move. Chelsea, meanwhile, remain firmly opposed to selling.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that the club have no intention to entertain offers and are unwilling to sanction a departure, even if approached.
Indeed, Chelsea’s current stance underscores Fernandez’s importance under coach Enzo Maresca, who has repeatedly emphasized his trust in the midfielder’s abilities and sees him as integral to the team’s future despite recent competition from Romeo Lavia and Caicedo.
At just 24, Fernandez has built on early challenges—including public controversy to deliver what many consider his finest season yet.
He scored nine goals and provided 16 assists across all competitions, helping Chelsea secure trophies like the Conference League and Club World Cup in a revitalized campaign.
Transfermarkt, however, still values him at around €75 million—far below his potential move price.
