Real Madrid have snapped up 16-year-old Enrique Herrero from Eintracht Frankfurt

The Spaniard began his career in the Villarreal youth system before moving to Frankfurt at the end of his contract.

Real Madrid has been scouting a number of young talents in order to develop for the future. We’ve observed an increase in young, skilled players at the club over the previous four years. We’ve seen guys like Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes join and now play frequently for the first team, especially the former.

The German club had beaten Real Madrid to sign Herrera last summer, but the Spaniard was eager to return home after just a few months.

He signed his new professional contract at Valdebebas yesterday, but he won’t be able to play for Madrid’s Under-19s until the club receives FIFA approval.

Herrero, who was born in Murcia, is a potential attacker who impressed during his time with Villarreal. He declared himself a free agent last summer, attracting attention from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

But, in the end, it was Eintracht Frankfurt who drew him in with an enticing offer, including the prospect of first-team participation in the Bundesliga.

However, after eight months, the boy was eager to return to Spain, and Madrid allowed him to do so.
