According to reports, Real Madrid will seek between €5 and €6 million in order to let go of Austrian utility player David Alaba, 32, during the summer transfer window.
Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly interested in David Alaba, according to a report by the Spanish publication Defensa Central. Real Madrid will let the Austrian utility player decide his own destiny.
If the seasoned defender wishes to leave the Santiago Bernabéu during the summer transfer window, the defending La Liga champions have set their asking price. To get rid of him, they will demand €5–6 million.
For Real Madrid over the past three and a half years, the 32-year-old has been a reliable defender. He did, however, miss more than a year because of a chronic knee problem. With just 311 minutes of playing time spread across nine games in all competitions so far this season, Alaba has not fully recovered his sharpness.
Alaba’s stock is still rising on the market, though, and a big payout in the Middle East could be imminent. During the summer transfer window, Saudi Pro League teams are considering recruiting the Austrian international, and they can probably offer him a significant increase in salary from his present €23 million annual salary.
Real Madrid open to selling veterans as Saudi Arabia interest grows
Alaba’s form and level of fitness are the main issues. The 32-year-old has failed to recapture his best level following a long-term injury, casting doubt on his ability to reach his peak again.
The defensive environment at Real Madrid has evolved in the last few seasons. Alaba is finding it challenging to regain a starting position, as Raul Asencio has become a dependable alternative and Antonio Rudiger has taken over as the team’s defensive commander.
The Austrian might end up on the periphery if he decides to stay in light of these conditions. Most importantly, Real Madrid is thinking about adding defensive support, and Dean Huijsen is at the top of their list.
Alaba has attracted the curiosity of Saudi clubs, and considering Madrid’s position, a departure this summer appears more likely. Real Madrid will not prevent Alaba from accepting an offer if it meets his expectations. For both the player and the team, the summer transfer window may be the deciding factor.
