Real Madrid’s presidential election on June 7th has become the greatest story in Spanish football, as the club prepares for its first such election in 20 years. The stakes are enormous, with businessman Enrique Riquelme willing to challenge Florentino Perez’s dynasty, even offering members the promise of signing Rodri if he becomes president.

The odds, however, continue to favour Florentino Perez, who not only enjoys institutional favour but is also close to several of the club’s icons, like Toni Kroos. While Kroos is a renowned fan of Perez, the Real Madrid president also earned backing from two more of the club’s midfield giants, Casemiro and Luka Modric.

According to Mundo Deportivo, both have used Instagram to openly announce their support for Florentino Perez ahead of the vote, uploading images of themselves with the president during their time at the club. This is a big display of support for Perez, given both Modric and Casemiro have played key roles in Real Madrid’s heritage.
