Toni Kroos reveals why Ancelotti came out on top on that night.

Real Madrid won by an astonishing 3-1 scoreline against Manchester City and with super-sub Rodrygo scoring two goals to get the game to extra time.

Karim Benzema then went on to score the match-deciding goal of the match and eventually Real secured the spot in the final of the Champions League.

The substitutes made a huge difference in that game with Ancelotti taking a different approach in the second half of the game.

He trusted his own players to make things work in the second half and it eventually played out for the team.

Kroos said: “The coach himself had a few doubts about who he would bring on and who not to bring on.

“We (Madrid’s players) have all seen a few football games ourselves. That allows you to exchange ideas a bit.

“That describes him (Ancelotti) really well and why things always work well with the team. It’s outstanding. In the end he decides, but of course he’s interested in our opinion.”
