Next week, Real Madrid will play one of their most important games of the year when they travel to Anfield to meet Liverpool in the opening leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16

But, manager Carlo Ancelotti is concerned about the health of some of his important players before of the game. Karim Benzema has been sidelined for tomorrow’s match against CA Osasuna due to exhaustion, as already stated by the Italian. The La Liga match will not be attended by the 35-year-old striker in Pamplona.

Toni Kroos is another important player who won’t be playing on Saturday night. Due to gastroenteritis, the German midfielder missed Real Madrid’s most recent match against Elche and has not recovered enough to play against Osasuna.

Now, Kroos may also be questionable for the game against Liverpool next week, according to The Athletic. Kroos is one of the team’s most seasoned players, so his likely absence at Anfield may be a major setback for Real Madrid. It is true that in recent weeks, Ancelotti has gradually started to rotate both the German and his partner in midfield, Luka Modric.

Nonetheless, the senior pair’s importance to this Real Madrid club cannot be disputed, particularly in high-profile and high-stress situations like the match against Liverpool, which was played at Anfield.

The Merengues will thus be praying that the 33-year-old superstar heals quickly and in time for the pivotal match against Jurgen Klopp’s team on Tuesday. This season, Kroos has participated in 30 games across all competitions, recording a return of two goals and four assists. The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and he has not yet decided whether to renew it or walk away.
