Toni Kroos who is refusing to pen a new contract and will assess his options next summer
It is believed that the German midfield ace is unwilling to commit his future to the Madrid club with his current contract set to expire in 2023.
In addition to helping Los Blancos win the UEFA Champions League trophy earlier this year and the La Liga championship, Kroos enjoyed another productive season in Spain. In 44 games for the Madrid team in 44 different tournaments during the previous season, the German international scored three goals and collected three assists.
Averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.6 shots, and 1.8 critical passes per 90 minutes in La Liga, the 32-year-old did well for himself. After successfully completing 94.9 percent of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division, he has even been precise while passing the ball from midfield.
With some strong tackles, Kroos can make life difficult for the opposition in the middle of the field. He continues to be a great passer and can create a few good opportunities for his teammates in the half of the opposing side.
The seasoned German international may even contribute by sometimes scoring a goal. But father time is now catching up to his antics.
When the athlete becomes a free agent next summer, it is only natural for him to search for a new challenge. He is still an important part of Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI, so the Madrid giants would be wise to cling onto him for at least another season.
Kroos has a plethora of knowledge and a winning mentality that will enable Los Blancos to repeat as champions in 2023. Real Madrid should thus think about retaining him there for another year, even if it means losing him on a free transfer at the end of the next campaign.
