Reports indicate the Atlético coach told Vinicius that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez “is going to kick you out,” before gesturing towards the whistling sections of the crowd and telling the player to “listen.”
Vinicius has now issued a sharp retort. Commenting on an Instagram post detailing the incident, the winger wrote, “You’ve lost another knockout,” accompanied by laughing and crying emojis.
The dig references Simeone’s record in crucial matches against Real Madrid in recent seasons.
When questioned about the confrontation in his post-match press conference, Simeone declined to provide details.
The Argentine claimed to have a “complicated” memory of the incident, avoiding any further discussion of his remarks.
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso expressed clear dissatisfaction with Simeone’s actions, though the team secured a place in the final.
Midfielder Fede Valverde admitted the performance itself was below par, despite the positive result.
The win came with potential costs, as Antonio Rüdiger is likely to miss the final and Rodrygo Goes faces a fitness doubt. Alonso confirmed Kylian Mbappé will join the squad, boosting their attacking options.
The episode underscores the intense and psychological nature of the Madrid derby, with Vinicius ensuring the rivalry’s latest chapter extended beyond the final whistle.
