Vinicius Junior Determined On Becoming The Best At Real Madird

Vinicius Junior aims to establish himself as a starter at Real Madrid.

Since flying in from Flamengo in 2018, the Brazilian talent has struggled to get going in Madrid.

His development has not been as rapid as the Galacticos bosses had hoped. The forward has failed to break competition even when Eden Hazard has mostly been sidelined by injuries. Those are not promising signs for a player who arrived with so much hype and potential three seasons back.

“I know that I can be one of the best in Madrid. I am young and I am very happy. I’m always smiling,” he said on Campo de estrellas.

Vinicius cost Real a whopping €45m even at just 17 years of age. Such was the heights of his talents back in Brazil that both Real and Barcelona were interlocked in a bidding war for months before the deal was finalized.

Vinicius added, “It was one of the happiest days of my life. When I got here it was very difficult. It was a moment in which I was going to change my life.”

Zinedine Zidane did start the 20-year-old in the Champions League second leg against Atalanta. He led out an assist in the 3-1 win that helped Madrid progress to the final eight of the competition.
