Real Madrid dropped points on Sunday against Getafe.
With Atletico Madrid coming up with nothing against Real Betis last week, the Galacticos had an excellent opportunity to catch up to the league leaders.
But instead, they ended the night on a goalless draw to keep Atletico still at an arms length. Diego Simeone’s side face Huesca next on Thursday with 7 games left to be played for both Madrid sides.
Zinedine Zidane said, “I have to congratulate the players because it wasn’t easy. We were very good defensively and we lacked something in attack. We have to keep going because we’ve got a lot of points left to play for. We’re going to do just that”.
“They’ve played well and made it difficult. They fought hard and dug in until the end. It’s another point and we have to keep going. Giving up would be like throwing the towel in. I’ve got no comment to make about the referee. He’s there to decide and he decided it was offside.”
Of course, the remaining games will provide ample opportunities to climb up to the top but Real cannot afford to squander chances like this.
