Zidane Wants The Media To Stop Focusing On Asensio's Poor Form

Zinedine Zidane has jumped to the defence of Sergio Asensio.

Real Madrid‘s form are down in the dumps and Asensio have faced quite a bit of criticism.

The midfielder has struggled to find consistency since returning from injury last term. He has featured in various positions but Zidane gave him the license to make the rigth flank his own. Asensio instead, has failed to impress.

With fans and the media getting on back of the Spaniard, Zidane said, “We have to stop talking about what he has to do and just let him play. We know all about his quality and the only thing that he has to do is rediscover his form.

“But, little by little, we’ll start to see the best of Marco because he had a serious injury and has had another one this season.”

Real’s 1-2 defeat to Alaves highlighted some of the clear problems that are haunting the team. Creativity is at it’s lowest which means the attacking threat is also pretty much null. The Galacticos look disjointed when they have the ball and that allows teams to hit them on the counter.

Defensively, they have not been sharp enough and without Sergio Ramos in the lineup, the entire backline crumbles. Zidane has to address these issues, either with player signings or through disciplinary action. He can only back his players’ inconsistencies for son long in front of the media.
