Zinedine Zidane could get fired unless he wins the Champions League this season.
Spanish news outlet, AS believes the Frenchman is hanging by a thread at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real have now been knocked out of both domestic cups, first by third tier Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey and by Athletic Bilbao in the Super Cup. They have dropped 10 points behind La Liga winners Atletico Madrid after last week’s 2-1 defeat to Levante.
Los Blancos are dangerously close to going a season without any silverware. There are still plenty of games left but Real are not doing themselves any favours at the moment. They are in torrid form, very vulnerable at the back and disjointed in attack.
Zinedine Zidane needs a serious turn in events to get the team back on track. Of course, the lack of new additions has played a huge part in the club’s decline. Only good news for the fans is their arch-rivals, Barcelona are not doing too well either.
Real Marid face Atalanta in the Champions League round of 16 next, having squeezed their way past the group stage. If they fail to get to the next stage, Zidane could be axed. Former striker Raul, RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Juventus man Massimiliano Allegri are all being considered as his replacement.
