Zinedine Zidane Left Real Madrid On His Own Terms

Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid for the second time this week.

The Galacticos finished the season without winning any silverware since the 2009/10 season.

“Real Madrid C. F. announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to bring an end to his current spell as head coach of our club,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

“We must now respect his decision and express our gratitude for his professionalism, dedication and passion over the years and what he means to Real Madrid.

“Zidane is one of Real Madrid’s great icons and his legacy extends beyond what he has achieved as a coach and player at our club.

“He is aware that he has a place in the hearts of the Real Madrid fans and that he will always have a home at Real Madrid.”

Zidane’s legacy at the club has not been tarnished by a poor second spell as a manager. While he did try to reform the squad, a lack of signings made it difficult to keep them competitive against all top opposition.

Now, Real Madrid are aiming to sign from the list of Massimiliano Allegri, Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino. Allegri is close to agreeing a second stint at Juventus and Pochettino recently took over PSG. It is only Conte who is without employment since leaving Inter Milan.
