Alejandro Grimaldo, a former Barcelona defender, has hinted at a move to Real Madrid. In a recent interview, the left-back, who has been in outstanding form for Bayer Leverkusen this season, showed his adoration for the Madrid giants.
“Real Madrid is one of the best teams in the world, if not the best, and it is a team that every player wants to join,” Grimaldo stated.
Grimaldo, who spent eight years in Barcelona’s junior system before joining Benfica in 2016, has been a revelation since his debut at Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Grimaldo’s 14 goal contributions in 17 appearances have caught the interest of numerous major clubs, including Real Madrid, who are looking for a new left-back
Despite his fondness for Real Madrid, Grimaldo pointed out his current joy with Bayer Leverkusen, where he has a contract until 2027.
“At the moment I am at Bayer Leverkusen. I have been here for three months and everything is going great. We have to keep working and in the future, we will see what happens,” Grimaldo assured.
“The truth is that I am very happy. It is a dream come true. Now I want to enjoy every moment that I am here, every day that I am here and take advantage of the opportunity,” he added.
The story develops as skepticism mounts that Grimaldo’s current coach, Xabi Alonso, is a preferred to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid next season.
