Jude Bellingham, a promising English talent, reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Manchester City before joining Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. Jose Manuel Otero, a member of Real Madrid’s board of directors, stated this inquisitive information regarding Bellingham’s journey to the Real Madrid.
“Bellingham cost a lot of money, but was he expensive? I don’t think so. It’s the same as a Rolls Royce. It costs a lot of money, but it is not expensive. What you get for what you pay is very important,” he stated to Blanca Remontada.
“They told us the other day at lunch with Girona. People from Manchester City came to eat and told us they had been talking to Bellingham.
“They said that their father had entertained them a little by giving them hope, but Jude said no, that he wanted to play for Real Madrid.
“That is happening with many players. When the prospect of signing for Real Madrid opens up to them, they forget everything else. Madrid is the best way to achieve glory.”
Amid heavy uncertainty about his future, the 20-year-old midfielder thrived at Borussia Dortmund, attracting the attention of numerous big teams. Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool were all interested in signing him, with Manchester City making the biggest bid. However, Bellingham was insistent about wearing the Real Madrid shirt, making them his first choice.
Bellingham has made an instant impact at Real Madrid, proving his talent on the field. He has an amazing tally of 10 goals and three assists in just 10 matches in all competitions, indicating his tremendous contributions to the team.
As the young star shines for Los Blancos in the 2023-24 season, his decision to select Real Madrid over other prominent European clubs has surely shown to be a reasonable one.
