Luka Modric will see his contract expire at the end of the current season
Real Madrid legend Luka Modric are planning to leave the club after a glorious career in the Spanish capital. The Ballon d’Or winner will now find challenges in the Saudi Pro League.
The 38-year-old will see his contract expire at the end of the current season and he will leave the club as a free agent. Los Blancos are also not picking him regularly in their XI.
The Croatia international has fallen down the midfield pecking order in the current campaign. He has faced competition from in-form Jude Bellingham.
The Englishman is leading the midfield and Ancelotti have other options such as Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
Modric and Toni Kroos have often been consigned to the bench. The 38-year-old has made 15 appearances this season and has six starts to his name.
Modric’s agent recently refused to rule out a January exit for the player. He will be free to enter pre-contract talks with foreign clubs when the winter transfer window starts.
After the 2023/24 season, Saudi clubs can offer a new contract to Luka Modric and he will accept for sure. He is in his final years of career.
