Dirty tackles could’ve costed Vini Jr his World Cup dream

Vinicius Junior is one of the most fouled players in La Liga.

The Real Madrid attacker has been on the receiving end of harsh tackles for quite some time now.

He has started all 14 games for Real Madrid this season and has been tackled 10 more times than Getafe’s Enes Unal.

The 22-year-old was afraid that these ‘dirty tackles’ could have costed him the World Cup.

“What happens of the field stays on the field, but it went too far,” Vinicius told Reuters on Thursday.

“You can come strong but they were being dirty with their challenges. Rodrygo and I suffered a lot in those last games and feared the worst, to get injured and miss the World Cup.

“When you start to become an important player, rivals come after you harder. You have to learn to deal with that.

“I learned a lot from Neymar when he played for Barcelona, he suffered a lot too. Cristiano [Ronaldo], when he played for Real, suffered a lot too.

“But it was Karim [Benzema] who told me to stay calm and have peace of mind because if the rivals are chasing you it is because you are relevant, because they are afraid of you.

“So that’s why when I take the ball and burst forward I do with a vengeance. Yes, I can get hurt. But I’m prepared for the challenge.”

Rodrygo is preparing for his first World Cup in Qatar.

The young forward has won the Champions League and La Liga with Real Madrid last season and was one of the influential players in the latter part of the campaign.

This year he is expected to play a huge role with Brazil in the World Cup in Qatar.

Brazil are the favourites to win the competition for the sixth time this year.

They are one of the strongest teams in this tournament and Rodrygo claims talent alone won’t fetch the nation their sixth trophy.

“We know that we have a great national team, that we are among the favourites,” Real Madrid’s Rodrygo said. “But there are also other very good teams as well.

“It’s no use saying we are favourites and then arriving on the pitch and not showing it. We know that everyone was in good form with their clubs and that’s why they’re here. Many good players were left out.”

Belgium will be playing against Canada in their World Cup opener.

Eden Hazard has struggled for game time at Real Madrid since his arrival at Bernabeu in the summer of 2019.

This season is no less than the others as the former Chelsea man is struggling to find minutes under Carlo Ancelotti.

Although he has struggled with injuries since his arrival at the capital, he has fallen down the pecking order under Ancelotti’s XI.

Despite his performances for Real Madrid, Hazard will lead his national side Belgium at the World Cup in Qatar.

Hazard told Marca: ‘It is a good team, with good players.

‘We have more experience than in the World Cup in Russia, but I haven’t been playing, Lukaku has had injuries.

‘We have doubts, although not inside. I think there are better teams than us.’

The Real Madrid winger was then asked who are the favourites in this tournament.

Hazard replied: ‘Brazil, sure. France, Argentina.’

Eden Hazard to accept Real Madrid exit next summer!

Eden Hazard to accept Real Madrid exit next summer!

Hazard has managed just two starts so far under Ancelotti.

Real Madrid and Eden Hazard’s story might get end as the player is planning to say final bye to Los Blancos.

Due to a combination of injuries, strong competition and poor performances, Hazard is finding him on the bench under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

In recent interviews he has described himself as “at a dead end”, and admitted he could leave the club.

Speaking to Marca, Hazard was asked if he understood why many Madridistas are not thrilled with him.

“Of course! It is normal. I am a player who has not played many games in three years. I can understand it. I have to show that when I play, be it five, ten or 15 minutes, I want to play and when I do I have to do it well.”

The Belgian international said that he would accept a departure four years into his five-year deal at Real Madrid.

“In January it is impossible, because I have family and I like the city. But in summer it is possible that I go. I have one more year on my contract and it’s the club’s decision. If the club tells me ‘Eden, thanks for four years, but you have to go’, I have to accept it because it’s normal. But I would like to play more, show more that I can play, that I am a good player.”

Hazard has managed just two starts so far and has been more of a non-factor than last season.

When asked why he thinks his Real Madrid spell has failed so far, the player replied: “I don’t think it has failed.

“I have played many games in ten years, seven in the Premier League with many kicks. There are moments in life when you have a little less luck with a game, an injury.

“You have to understand your way of life. You can change things in life, but I think many were due to bad luck, a bit because of the coronavirus, a bit because of the confinement.”

Eden Hazard desires to continue playing at Real Madrid.

The Belgian forward has been linked with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu as he has featured only 29 times for Carlo Ancelotti in the past two seasons.

He is struggling to get minutes under the Italian manager and according to rumours could force an exit next summer.

But the former Chelsea forward has reiterated his desire to fight for his place this season after the World Cup.

“I don’t want to leave Real Madrid. Maybe my situation will change after the World Cup,” Hazard told the media. “I want to play but it’s the manager who makes his choices. I accept, but I want to show him that I deserve to play more. When you don’t play it’s difficult.”

Hazard further went on explaining how he’s going to prove his doubters wrong this World Cup.

“Just like at the last Euros. I gained minutes in the first matches and was there in the quarter-final against Portugal. Our medical and technical staff will help me (be ready).

“I have not suddenly lost my qualities. This will be my third World Cup and I want to show that Belgium can still count on its captain and that I want to give everything (for the team)

“Our first focus should be on surviving the group stage. Then anything is possible if we give the maximum. Quarter-final, semi-final or even the final.”

Benzema reveals he has heard nothing from Ronaldo since Ballon d'Or win

Both Benzema and Ronaldo will meet in Qatar for the 2022 World Cup this month.

Karim Benzema has revealed he has heard nothing from his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo since he clinched the 2022 Ballon d’Or.

The France international lifted the illustrious prize for the first time in his career after having an extraordinary show in the 2021/22 season for Real Madrid. His best performances helped Los Blancos to win La Liga and the Champions League.

Ronaldo endured his lowest finish in the rankings since 2005, placing 20th on the night after a difficult return season at Manchester United.

When asked by French outlet Telefoot if he had heard from his former Real teammate, Benzema admitted: “No, not yet.”

The awards ceremony took place almost a month ago and five-time winner Ronaldo was not present on the night to see Benzema lift the award.

Both have slowed down considerably in 2022/23 for various reasons, but are remembered fondly for their partnership in Madrid, alongside Gareth Bale.

Despite their struggles this season, both Benzema and Ronaldo will represent their nations at the 2022 World Cup this month.

Real Madrid to renew Toni Kroos contract at Santiago Bernabeu

Toni Kroos has not shown any urgency to sign a new deal.

Real Madrid are planning to add some contract renewals before the January transfer window. One such star whose current deal runs out at the end of the season is Toni Kroos.

The 32-year-old’s contract will expire in 2023 and so far talks over an extension have not progressed as per plans for the club.

As per the reports of SPORT, Real Madrid expects Kroos to accept the contract offer that they have tabled for him.

The club is sure that the former German international stays at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the ongoing season.

With Luka Modric now 37 and Aurelien Tchouameni still getting used to the demands of playing for the Merengues, it is important for the club to retain Kroos.

The 32-year-old has not shown any urgency to sign a new deal. But, he has maintained that he intends for Real Madrid to be his last club, meaning he could either decide to retire or pen an extension.

The veteran superstar has played in 18 of Madrid’s 21 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and setting up four more.

Real Madrid have been brilliant this season.

The Los Blancos are currently two points behind Barcelona in the La Liga table.

Their shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano compromised their position in the league table.

This was Real Madrid’s first defeat of the season and manager Carlo Ancelotti was asked if the World Cup break came at a good time for his squad.

Ancelotti said: “The break is well-received because there is no alternative.”

“We had a good start to the season, then we arrived at the end a bit tight, but we achieved our targets, we did enough, we got to 35 points.”

“There are many more games than last season, taking into account that we have been missing the Ballon d’Or [Karim Benzema], the forward who scored 50 goals last season, it’s true that we got to the end a little bit tired.”

Gerard Pique blasts Real Madrid president Florentino Perez

Barcelona legend Gerard Pique comments on Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

The Barcelona centre-back played his last game for the club against Almeria last weekend at the Camp Nou.

He was shown a red card against CA Osasuna while he was still on the bench.

He was later seen on Twitch with Ibai Llanos, a popular streamer in Spain where he made some comments about the Super League and Florentino Perez.

“Milan loves football and doesn’t watch an entire game. When Florentino talks to you about the Super League and that people consume differently, I agree with that. But I don’t think the Super League is the solution. It’s a different thing.”

“The presentation of the Super League, it was a big s***show. Because I hold Florentino in the highest regard, he surprised me [in the way that he did it]. He has changed Madrid. He was wrong when he signed the stars at the time and when he came back, his work has been praiseworthy. His presentation at El Chiringuito, him alone… my head exploded. I don’t know what he wanted to achieve. I didn’t understand it.”
