Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has been linked with a move to Real Madrid

The Spaniard is eager to return to La Liga and leave Italy, and it is believed that Real Madrid is his preferred destination.

Los Blancos are mindful of the fact that Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Toni Kroos are all either nearing the end of their careers or have already reached the end of theirs.

That is why Real Madrid has been aggressively working out a succession plan for the three, with Federico Valverde and Camavinga potentially becoming part of the first-long-term team’s core.

Ruiz has appeared in 137 games for Napoli, scoring 17 goals and assisting on 12 occasions. His rapid growth at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium has not gone unnoticed, with the Spanish international appearing on the radars of a number of prominent teams around Europe. Real Madrid is one of his long-term suitors.

Los Blancos covet the 25-year-old midfielder but are unwilling to pay the €80 million sum first quoted by the Serie A club. However, with Fabian entering the final year of his contract next season, that figure has now decreased to roughly €50 million. Carlo Ancelotti has worked with the midfielder at the Diego Armando Maradona.

Fabian was born and nurtured in Los Palacios y Villafranca in Seville, the same town that produced Jesus Navas and Gavi, and progressed through the Real Betis development system before moving to Italy in 2018. He’s made 15 appearances for Spain’s national team and is an important member of Luis Enrique’s side.
