Real Madrid faces setback as Mbappé postpones decision
Real Madrid’s hopes of securing Kylian Mbappé’s future in the January transfer window have hit a stumbling block, with renowned transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano delivering unwelcome news to the La Liga giants.
The Spanish side had reportedly set a 15-day deadline for the French forward to accept their pre-contract offer, given that Mbappé’s current deal with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June 2024.
However, Romano confirmed that Mbappé has made the strong choice not to make decisions about his future during the current transfer window.
The 25-year-old plans to stay with PSG at least until the end of the current season, with the goal of competing for every available trophy. This news kills Real Madrid’s immediate desires of becoming World Cup champion.
Carmen Colino, a Diario AS journalist, agreed the 15-day decision window but noted that Real Madrid will not wait endlessly for Mbappé to decide. Los Blancos must reconsider their transfer strategy and assess other options as a result of the loss.
With Mbappé dedicated to finish the season with PSG and all parties concerned expecting that no progress will be made in January, the question now is whether Real Madrid will quit their chase or look for other ways to strengthen their squad. The next few weeks are sure to bring more twists and turns in this high-stakes transfer tale.
