The Italian was supposed to join Brazil’s national team in the summer but 5-time FIFA WC winner made no secret of their desire to bring him in as their new head coach in 2024.
The 64-year-old always insisted that his first choice was to remain in the Spanish capital. It has now been announced that he has extended his deal for a further two years.
He returned to Madrid in 2021 after a stint at Everton, and he enjoyed a successful 2021-22 campaign, winning La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup.
Ancelotti told Il Messagero last year, “This stage at Real will end my career. After Los Blancos, I’ll stop. Real is the top of football. It makes sense to put an end to it after this experience.”
Real Madrid currently sit top of the La Liga table, but they are level on points with second-placed Girona. They will take on RB Leipzig in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.
