Odriozola is willing to leave Real Madrid only if he joins back Real Sociedad

As the summer transfer window approaches, Real Madrid has seen a number of exits

Exit operations have been carried out to ensure a route is prepared for new signings since they have their sights set on fresh admissions.

However, Los Blancos do not appear to be finished yet and seem to be looking for new homes for a number of their side players. Future plans for Odriozola are uncertain. Only Real Sociedad is the destination of the Spaniard’s request to leave.

According to the report, La Real would not be prepared to pay a fee for the player. Odriozola relocated from San Sebastian to Real Madrid in 2018, but despite stints on loan at Fiorentina and Bayern Munich, his career in Madrid hasn’t taken off. He has never been a sure thing for the Merengues’ first team as a result.

The 27-year-old still has one year left on his contract, thus Madrid is trying to get a price for him before inevitably waving him off for nothing. However, Odriozola is determined to go back to Real Sociedad, where he previously played, despite having extremely little playing time and little confidence from the coaches he has worked with at Real Madrid.

If a free transfer is declined, Real Madrid would only gain by getting rid of Odriozola’s €7 million gross annual wage, which would free up that sum of money and a roster spot for another player. Because business between Madrid and the Basque side has historically been regular, a mutually beneficial deal is not yet ruled out. Given that Sociedad will compete in the Champions League the next year, a fee for the player that would enable them to strengthen their team is a remote prospect.
