Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is one of Real Madrid’s top trade priorities for the summer

With numerous prestigious teams across Europe interested in signing him, the 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after players on the market going into the summer. One of the top candidates for the England international is Real Madrid, who are planning a transfer for him as a potential long-term successor to Luka Modric.

Borussia Dortmund is still trying to keep the talented midfielder, though. The German powerhouses intend to extend the 19-year-stay old’s at the club by giving him a new contract, as director Sebastian Kehl recently disclosed.

Bellingham will soon receive a new, bumper deal from Borussia Dortmund worth €15 million annually. The midfielder’s current contract with the Bundesliga club continues through 2025. His deal would be extended by another year by the Black and Yellows, keeping him under contract until the summer of 2026.

Dortmund has a strong wish, but negotiations have not yet started. With a contract worth €15 million annually, Bellingham would outpace seasoned superstar Marco Reus, who currently earns €12 million annually.

It is unclear if Bellingham will accept a lengthy stay in Germany over offers from clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester City, despite their best efforts to persuade him to stay for at least another year. Dortmund will make it difficult for suitors if Bellingham decides not to ink a new contract by attaching a €150 million price tag to him.
