If Arsenal wants to buy Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, they may have to fork up up to £52.5 million
This is according to Fichajes, who claim that the Gunners must pay the aforementioned sum for Real to contemplate a sale. If true, Mendy would rank third on FootballTransfers’ list of most costly transfers for the North London club, behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe.
For a player who has been sidelined for the last three months due to a muscular ailment, £52.5 million is a steep price to pay. He will also miss Real’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Chelsea on Wednesday due to this setback.
Mendy sustained an injury against Athletic Bilbao in January, missing 13 games as a result. Despite only appearing 25 times this season due to injury issues, Los Blancos may sell the defender this summer.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, and Kieran Tierney are now Arsenal’s three established left-backs, but with Tierney expected to leave this summer, Mendy might be a solid choice to give the former two competition.
Don’t rule out this move because Arsenal is cruising at the top of the Premier League and will undoubtedly advance to the Champions League. Players from all across Europe will undoubtedly be drawn to Arsenal due to their desirability as a club.
