The destruction of Liverpool’s midfield has pushed the Reds to look into market opportunities
The English tabloid Telegraph believes that Jurgen Klopp personally prefers Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. According to the aforementioned site, even if Klopp is successful in moving Trent Alexander-Arnold into the defensive midfield position, they would still like to sign a top-tier player in the region.
This is due to the fact that players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are en route to Saudi Arabia. Even though they have already added Dominik Szoboszlai, the midfield is clearly lacking.
The Premier League team has identified a number of players for that, and Tchouameni just so happens to be on the list. It should be recalled that the Frenchman was of interest to Liverpool even before he decided to sign a six-year contract with Madrid for an estimated €80 million, with the possibility of an increase to €100 million if certain requirements were completed.
Therefore, it goes without saying that the Reds would be interested in the 23-year-old even this summer. Liverpool would now be more than happy to work with Madrid if they are open to receiving bids. But they can only do that if they sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe. The Los Blancos would require money to sign Mbappe, which can only come from player sales.
However, it turns out that the squad from the nation’s capital is more than happy to wait until 2024, when Mbappe’s contract expires. By doing this, they would be able to sign the Frenchman for nothing while also preventing any unneeded player departures. Tchouameni is unquestionably not for sale this summer as a whole.
