Luka Modric to leave Real Madrid to join Saudi Pro League (RM)

Luka Modric set to bid farewell to Real Madrid in summer

According to a recent report, Real Madrid’s midfield magician Luka Modric is likely to say farewell to the iconic white jersey next summer when his contract expires.

The Croatian dynamo, who joined the club from Tottenham in 2012, has left his name in La Liga history, going from the worst signing to the Ballon d’Or winner in 2018.

Despite playing an important part in Real Madrid’s five Champions League wins, Modric has found himself on the bench this season, starting only six La Liga games.

According to sources from the Spanish website Sport, Modric’s exit is imminent, and the club is already planning for a post-Modric period.

The growth of young players such as Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga, as well as the return of Dani Ceballos, is said to have lessened Modric’s importance.

However, manager Carlo Ancelotti is keen to keep the seasoned midfielder until the end of the season, appreciating the essential experience Modric provides, especially given the Real Madrid squad’s current injury issues.

Modric’s departure will surely mark the end of an era for Los Blancos as the curtains close on an amazing decade-long career.
