Real Madrid beat Inter Milan 2-0 in the mid-week CL clash!
Three crucial points were at stake when the Galacticos faced the Italian giants. Both sides had fared poorly in the Champions League prior to facing each other.
Real collected their first win in the group stage against Inter Milan and the two teams faced each other again earlier this week with both still in trouble in the group standings.
It was Real who prevailed with a 2-0 win making their life easier and Modric feels the Spanish giants deserved the win.
“I said it would be a Final for us, we played a great game,” Modric told UEFA.com. “We did what I asked for: playing together for each other.
“We deserved to win. Having lost key players, we had to play as a group and give something more individually.
“We have shown team spirit and the character that we have always shown in this competition. We are happy with our performance.”
Real are up next in the league where things have not gone well either. Zidane’s men have been unfortunate with injuries but even otherwise they have not fared well.
It remains to be seen if this win can turn their season around.
