Real Madrid is thinking about making an unexpected offer for Aymeric Laporte of Manchester City

The Madrid-based team is rumoured to be interested in adding a new central defender to replace the injured Eder Militao, and the club administration likes the sound of the Spanish international.

Laporte had been waiting at the door leading out of City for a while. In the end, the Premier League giants and the Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr reached an agreement, and the terms of the agreement seemed set in stone.

It’s crucial to remember that the athlete wants to keep playing in Europe. He only thought about moving to the league located in the Middle East because European teams weren’t making any offers. Thus, Laporte may quickly distance himself from Saudi Arabia with a bid from Real Madrid. The player, whose estimated market value is €25 million, would be open to moving to Madrid. It is unknown whether Manchester City will accept the one-year loan option Real Madrid is rumoured to be considering.

Since Militao’s injury against Athletic Club over the weekend, Real Madrid has been aggressively looking for ways to fill his shoes. The Merengues first said they wouldn’t look for a new centre defender unless there was another injury this month. Thus, Ancelotti chose Castilla stars whose profiles he liked as potential replacements. Marvel, a 20-year-old talent, was among the best situated on that front.

Earlier this week, the player, who is Moroccan by birth, was seen working out with the first team. His performances have won over the boss, and earlier today, reports surfaced that he is expected to be promoted to the first squad for the forthcoming season. Laporte’s transfer therefore seems doubtful at this time, and it seems more likely that the Spanish international will finish up in Saudi Arabia.
