His contract will expire in the summer of 2024 but Real Madrid want to retain him.
Real Madrid veteran Toni Kroos’ future is uncertain in the Spanish capital. He will be entering the final six months of his contract. The Los Blancos midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the summer.
The La Liga club are keen to retain him as he will be helpful with the experience. Real Madrid will find a vacuum if he leaves next summer. Luka Modric is already leaving the club in June 2024.
Toni Kroos will think about the future in the upcoming weeks. He wants to go out on top of his game. According to Javier Herraez (via Estadio Deportivo), the 33-year-old midfielder is open to staying at Real Madrid for at least one more season.
He said, “He’s going to think about it. He’s doing well, he’s looking forward to it. He could even return to the German national team to play in the European Championship. And if he is as he is to date, at 34 years of age, then he would still feel like a starter, which is what he wants to renew for Real Madrid. It’s his club and he wants to retire when the time comes.”
Meanwhile, Toni Kroos wasn’t picked regularly as they have some better options. Ancelotti is going with Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde. Kroos got a chance but as the backup option of an injured player.
