Karim Benzema admits his desire to win Ballon d’Or at some point in his career.

The French striker began the new campaign with five goals and four assists in four matches in La Liga.

Benzema was Real Madrid’s top scorer last season with 23 league goals and 30 in all competitions.

“[Winning the Ballon d’Or] does not make me lose any sleep, although it is a dream for every player,” Benzema said at the press conference ahead of Los Blancos’ Champions League opener with Inter.

“What I want is to help the team. Every player wants to win it and so do I.”

The 33-year old went on to stress that Real Madrid will be aiming to win the Champions League this season as they have done in prior seasons.

“For me, the Champions League is the top competition and it is the one with the most pressure,” added Benzema.

“For me there are no favourites. On the pitch one thinks that one team will win and then another wins. We have a great team and we are going to fight for winning it.”
