Al-Hilal targets Luka Modric with staggering $300 million offer

Saudi Pro League powerhouse Al-Hilal is set to make another audacious bid to secure the services of Real Madrid maestro Luka Modric. The 38-year-old Croatian midfielder, whose contract with the Spanish giants is set to expire, has been a pivotal figure for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, notching up 22 appearances, a goal, and five assists.

Last year, the Saudi club reportedly dangled a tantalizing three-year, €300 million deal in front of Modric, but the crafty playmaker opted to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu for a single year.

Now, with Real Madrid purportedly unwilling to extend his contract further, Modric is on the brink of a free transfer, and Al-Hilal remains resolute in their pursuit.

The Riyadh-based club, already dominating the Saudi Pro League with 53 points from 19 matches, boasts a formidable squad including stars like Neymar, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Ruben Neves. The question remains whether Al-Hilal is ready to table a deal reminiscent of last year’s jaw-dropping offer.

Despite recent struggles for starting berths at Real Madrid, Modric, set to represent Croatia in Euro 2024, harbors no retirement plans, firmly believing in his ability to perform at the highest level into his 40s.

Having joined Real Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur, Modric has etched his name in the club’s history with 510 appearances and an illustrious trophy cabinet, boasting three La Liga titles, five Champions Leagues, and a myriad of domestic honors.

As Real Madrid gears up for the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona, Modric’s future remains uncertain, with Saudi Arabia beckoning and a potentially colossal offer awaiting him.
