Kepa Arrizabalaga expected to return to Chelsea in the summer.

First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered a serious knee injury at the start of the season, leading to Real Madrid make a swift loan move for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa would have faced competition after the arrival of Robert Sanchez from Brighton in the summer.

The Spaniard has started 17 games for the Los Blancos across all competitions helping the squad top the La Liga standings.

Earlier in October, Kepa reinstated his desire to secure a permanent move to Santiago Bernabeu next summer.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has just 18 months remaining on his seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are willing to recoup some of the £71.6m they paid for the Spaniard back in 2018.

Kepa got injured for some time and it allowed Andriy Lunin to get a run of games and he took the opportunity with both hands.

Ancelotti has begun to show his preference for Lunin and Kepa has since gone down the pecking order in the starting lineup.

The Spaniard was heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich before his summer switch to Santiago Bernabeu.

It is reported that Kepa will return to his parent club when the 2023/24 season concludes.
