Miguel Gutierrez has enjoyed a prolific breakthrough spell at Real Madrid.
Zinedine Zidane handed the young left-back his first ever start for Real in the 2020/21 season.
“Everyone in the first team has supported me a lot, especially the academy players who know what it is to rise through the ranks,” Gutierrez told Real Madrid TV.
“And I am also very grateful to Marcelo because by playing in the same position he is the one who has been on top of me the most, the one who advises me the most, and the one who is always the first to help me.”
“Every academy player dreams of that moment,” added Gutierrez.
“After so much work, the award came and I remember it as something very special and very beautiful.”
“For me what is happening to me is a dream,” noted Gutierrez. “I am with the best in the world and I will continue working to be able to experience this for many more years.”
None of Real’s senior players have been able to hold down a starting role under Zidane. Gutierrez has a real opportunity to make the left-back spot his under new coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
