Dani Ceballos never really found his footing at the Bernabeu. Even though Zidane admired the Spaniard’s profile, he could never really trust him with a starting role.

Ceballos instead, went to Arsenal and flourished. He gained Mikel Arteta’s trust last season and willing returned for a second season. The midfielder also revamped his game to play in a much deeper role, increasing his skill set to become a more refined player.

Perhaps his improvement could see him play a part in Real’s campaign in the near future or even bank them a decent amount of profit.

Gareth Bale’s relationship with Real Madrid reached a point of no return last season and it was only time before it was ended. Due to the Welshman’s outlandish wages, Real could not find any suitors in the present market.

Only Tottenham were willing to take him on but only at half of his contract value. The Galacticos were desperate to reduce their spendings and thin out their wage bill. Even at half of his rate, getting Bale off of their books proved to be positive in these difficult circumstances.

“Real Madrid wanted me to stay, but in the end they allowed me to leave and the conversations with Fienga and the coach were decisive to make it happen. I also want to thank Real Madrid for allowing me to be where I am today.

“In the summer I immediately expressed the desire to leave the club as soon as possible. Following a meeting with [Zinedine] Zidane, he expressed a wish for me to stay and so I stayed longer. My wish was to leave, because I thought I would have more opportunities to grow and to play somewhere else.”
