Real Madrid prepared to offer a €40 million bid for Chelsea captain Reece James next summer

At Real Madrid, the new generation has firmly taken control

There are very few spaces on the team for the veteran stars because Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo Goes, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eder Militao all constitute the team’s long-term core players. Right-back is one department that is still managed by the old guard. Carlo Ancelotti’s sole choices in the position are still Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, but Real Madrid is aggressively hunting for a newer name.

Reece James of Chelsea is the right-back that Real Madrid has locked on and won’t let up on pursuing. Although it won’t be simple, the men in white intend to start the mission to sign him next summer.

James has spent his whole career with Chelsea, scoring 11 goals and dishing out 20 assists during that time. Real Madrid won’t pay more than €40 million for him in June despite his current transfer market value of €65 million.

The biggest obstacle to his signing is the fact that Los Blancos have little wiggle room to haggle over the transfer fee because of his lengthy Chelsea contract, which expires in 2028. Florentino Perez’s pursuit of his most recent target is not entirely hopeless. Following recent splurges on the transfer market, Chelsea is under intense scrutiny and is being forced to sell players.

The situation won’t change next summer. James is one of the club’s greatest marketable commodities, so his departure wouldn’t necessarily be seen negatively. Chelsea won’t likely let to let their captain depart without a fight, therefore a higher offer than the planned €40 million bid would probably be required.
