Looking for the predicted starting XI for Real Madrid today vs Espanyol? Here is the expected starting XI for Real Madrid today vs Espanyol:

Real Madrid predicted line up vs Espanyol – Defence

In goal, we can expect Thibaut Courtois. He is steady in his progress to getting back to his best. In defence on the wing-back slots, we can expect Dani Carvajal and Nacho, with Rudiger will be pairing up with Eder Militao in centre-back.

Real Madrid predicted line up vs Espanyol – Midfield

Sergio Ramos – Real Madrid players who took drugs

Ramos is the legendary figure in the history of Real Madrid. The Spanish defender made 671 appearances for Los Blancos.

He is the most carded Real Madrid player and also has the record for most Red cards in La Liga. He was the captain of Real Madrid’s three winning Champions League campaigns. Sergio Ramos was the scorer in both the 2014 and 2016 Champions League finals.

The Spanish defender was tested positive for a banned drug at the Champions League final in 2017. Ramos took two hours to provide his urine sample, which was found to contain traces of the anti-inflammatory cortisone dexamethasone. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid drug that is only permitted if a medical doctor reports its administration. It was on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned list and within two days Ramos and Real were contacted by Uefa drugs chiefs.

The incident happened after the Champions League final win in 2017 where Los Blancos secured a 4-1 victory against Juventus. Later, UEFA chiefs closed the case immediately despite the shock findings. UEFA investigated the incident and it was the doctor who would take the blame – claiming “human error”.

Ramos won 22 trophies for Real Madrid including four European Cups, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 5 La Liga titles, 2 Copas del Rey and 4 Spanish Super Cups.

He made 671 appearances for Los Blancos, making him the club’s fourth-highest all-time appearance maker, topped only by Raúl (741), Casillas (725) and Sanchís (710). He has been named the best defender in the Champions League twice. Romas played a big role in winning the La Liga title in 2019-20.

Benzema suffers another injury just before tough run of matches for Real Madrid

Benzema suffers another injury just before tough run of matches for Real Madrid

The performances of Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. will likely have a significant impact on Real Madrid’s success for the rest of this season

The former still has 16 goals in 24 games, but he hasn’t been as effective as the Ballon d’Or-winning season last year.

However, injuries have frequently forced him to miss time during his season.

This season, Benzema has missed 12 games due to injuries due to no fewer than seven different injuries. In light of allegations from Melchor Ruiz that the 35-year-old was not present for the entirety of training on Wednesday, the match against Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, could add to that total.

In what could be another setback for Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who is already playing without David Alaba and Ferland Mendy in defence, Antonio Rudiger was also absent from the group practise at Valdebabas.

Ancelotti may decide to rest the pair against Espanyol in order to have them at 100% fitness ahead of the Champions League last 16 second leg against Liverpool next Wednesday because important games against Liverpool and Barcelona are coming up in the next 10 days.

Many elite teams in Europe, including Real Madrid, are vying for the services of Jude Bellingham in the transfer market

The midfield sensation for Borussia Dortmund has developed into one of the finest young players in the league over the past couple of seasons and appears set for a significant transfer this summer. The 19-year-old English star is up for grabs, and teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea are all interested.

For their part, Real Madrid has been pursuing Bellingham for a while, but recent reports have indicated that they are stalling due to the midfielder’s €150 million asking price, which could eliminate them from the running. However, a recent report from Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato claims that Real Madrid are stepping up their pursuit of Bellingham from Dortmund in the summer.

According to the story, Bellingham’s father and Juni Calafat, head of recruitment for Los Blancos, met earlier today in a hotel in London to talk about the transfer and present the club’s project to the teenager’s entourage.

After the aforementioned outlet claimed that Luka Modric’s destiny appeared to lie outside of the Santiago Bernabeu, this development occurred. Real Madrid will need to search for a new midfielder because Toni Kroos and Dani Ceballos’ futures are also up in the air. Bellingham is the main target.

To beat rivals like Liverpool and Manchester City in the battle for the 19-year-old, they have now gone on the attack in their pursuit of the former Birmingham City starlet. It will be fascinating to see if the meeting between Calafat and the player’s father results in the desired outcome for the current European and Spanish champions.

Jorge Mendes reaches out to Real Madrid with Rafael Leao offer

Rafael Leao’s contract extension talks with AC Milan have stalled, and his representative Jorge Mendes is looking for other teams to sign his client

Mendes contacted Real Madrid to inquire about the player, but there isn’t currently any desire. Before negotiations came to a halt, Milan and Leao were on the verge of an agreement. There won’t be any deal anytime soon because the parties are still at odds in many areas. Mendes anticipates returning to the negotiating table to resume talks for the Portuguese sensation some time between April and June.

Mendes demands that the Rossoneri match their desire to keep their star player with an offer that is commensurate with his position as one of the finest in the league. Although Mendes and Leao turned down the previous contract proposal, the Serie A club still has hope that an agreement can be reached.

Mendes, however, doesn’t linger. He reached out to Los Blancos last month to inquire about their interest in his client for a summer contract. The La Liga team is not currently interested in Leao. The midfield and fullback sections need to be updated first.

Leao plays left wing, but Madrid already has Vinicius Junior. who plays the left side. Rodrygo Goes, who has been on the right side of the field, is a left attacker. Leao, meanwhile, is said to enjoy Italy and desire to remain in Milan. He’ll hold off until they make the following deal.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the 23-year-old. After trying to acquire him last summer but failing, the Blues went after Mykhailo Mudryk in January.

Carlo Ancelotti left frustrated by his attackers in their La Liga draw at Real Betis

Ancelotti’s side struggled to make an impact at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is not happy with their attacker following a goalless draw against Real Betis. With this draw, FReal Madrid’s hopes for the title is getting slim.

Barcelona won its La Liga game yesterday and they have strengthened their position on top of the table. with a nine-point gap to Barcelona, Real Madrid almost lost the title race.

The visitors struggled to make an impact at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, with successive games without a goal scored for Ancelotti’s charges, as they hit an inconsistent streak.

“We lacked efficiency up front. In the first half, it was more open, and there could have been more solutions to create chances”, as per reports from Marca.

“Right now we lack efficiency, we dribble more, but shoot less.

“That’s cost us, by not scoring in the last three games. Today we had three or four clear chances. Fortunately, we did well at the back, because we’re much better there.”

Real Madrid will now face Espanyol in their next La Liga game, followed by a Champions League last-16 tie against Liverpool. They will also face Barcelona in away game on March 19.

Top 5 Real Madrid Most Attacking Managers Of All Time

Top 5 Real Madrid Most Attacking Managers

5. Jose Villalonga

Jose Villalonga led Real Madrid to their second consecutive La Liga title in his first season in charge. That was from a man who started out as a physical education teacher to become the first coach ever to win the European Cup.

He found success with the likes of Alfredo di Stefano, Raymond Kopa, and captain Miguel Munoz to lift the holy grail of club football. He is still the youngest man to win the crown. He departed the club with a total of six trophies under his name.

Villalonga liked skilled and technical players, putting an emphasis on players’ fitness at the time.

4. Vicente Del Bosque

Vicente Del Bosque is a legendary figure in coaching, having won the World Cup with Spani and two European Championships. He coached some of the best attacking players in football history and managed their flair with the grit and engine of Steve McManaman, Geremi, and Claudio Makelele during the Galacticos era. His side was full of flair and creativity with Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, and Ronaldo in attack.

Del Bosque led the club to two Champions League titles in his first three seasons in charge. He also saw the club win 2 La Liga titles, a UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup.

3. Carlo Ancelotti

It was a real shame that Carlo Ancelotti was not allowed to stay on at Real Madrid beyond two seasons. The Italian boss took a Real team with an attacking line-up of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo and delivered a treble.

He came back again when Real Madrid sacked Zidane after season 2020/21. Real Madrid lost the title to Atletico Madrid and they failed to perform in the Champions League. Ancelotti did wonder in his very first season in his second spell at Los Blancos. He helped Real Madrid to win La Liga in 2021/22 and also won Supercopa de Espana. They won Champions League, followed by Super Cup and Club World Cup.

2. Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane’s first stint at Real Madrid was nothing short of magical. With Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line and a team brimming with pace, the Frenchman led the Galacticos to three consecutive Champions League trophies.

During that period, Real played some exemplary football with some of the best cast in football.

1. Miguel Munoz

The Madrid native Miguel Munoz took on the job of head coach in April of 1960. He had a tough task of beating Barcelona’s dominant run that season both in the league and in Europe. His side beat the Catalan rivals 6-2 in the European Cup semi-finals on aggregate. He led the Galacticos to three more European Cup finals but won just one of them in 1966.

Munoz’s impact was legendary as he saw Los Blancos through a decade of domestic dominance, winning 5 consecutive La Liga titles and 8 in 10 seasons. He stressed on discipline and technical gameplay, definitely becoming one of Real Madrid most attacking managers ever.

5. Clarence Seedorf

AC Milan legend and one of football’s best midfielders, Clarence Seedorf was on player Real Madrid should not have sold. He came in as a 20-year-old immediately making himself a starter at Santiago Bernabeu.

Three seasons in and only 7 games missed, Seedorf was a star with a La Liga title in 1997 and the Champions League trophy a year later. Guus Hiddink had no place for him in his setup and Seedorf eventually departed for Real’s Italian rivals, Milan. His hard-tackling midfield qualities were unparalleled at that time.

4. Claude Makelele

Claude Makelele was once the world’s best defensive midfielder. He was underrated because he went around his business in a non-flamboyant manner. He did all the dirty work in midfield and helped Madrid to two La Liga titles and a Champions League trophy.

After years of service, when he asked for a pay hike, he was turned down. Chelsea picked him up and two Premier League titles, a FA Cup and two League Cups. He was proof that handing quality players over 30 can work wonders sometimes.

3. Arjen Robben

Players Who Real Madrid Should Have Kept

Was Arjen Robben a massive flop at Real Madrid? Well, he went on to become one of the world’s best wingers over the past two decades.

He was the sacrificial lamb when Florentino Perez sanctioned deals for Ronaldo and Kaka, Benzema and Xabi Alonso. Robben later said, “I found it difficult because of the change of president in Madrid – I really felt very comfortable there and played very well – but when politics comes into play and you don’t have a real chance, you must decide if you want to keep fighting or continue your career elsewhere,” Robben reflected.

He scored 144 goals in 309 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.

Angel Di Maria remains one of the players who did achieve glory after leaving Real Madrid but was still a bad sale.

After a £25m move from Benfica, he featured in 200 games and was hailed as one of the world’s best under Jose Mourinho. Di Maria came to life under the Portuguese, tearing up teams on the counters. Unfortunately, the relationship soured towards the end when he was asked to sit out of Argentina’s 2014 World Cup final against Germany.

He was sold to Manchester United that summer for £56.7m when he was still at his peak. Spells at Old Trafford and now at PSG have not been as fruitful by he was one of the players Real Madrid should not have sold.

1. Samuel Eto’o

Players Real Madrid Regret Selling Eto'o

Real Madrid wrote Samuel Eto’o as a flop earlier than they should have. He played his first La Liga game with Los Blancos but after two seasons could not get his first goal. Mallorca brought him out for £27m in 2000.

After four seasons, he moved to Barcelona and became a huge hit. Eto’o is one of the players Real Madrid should not have sold.
